If you consider early bird skiing in December snow might be a bit of concern. Obviously everyone likes to be sure about conditions at the beginning of winter. Not in 2013.
It is already snowing throughout the Alps.
Alpe d’Huez, France opened last weekend – 3 weeks before the plan!
Three ski areas incl. Cervinia are already open in Italy with more to come. Resorts offering Free Ski deals are of major interest – all of them plan to open in two weeks and they are going to make it. Pictures from this morning below.
Livigno – the most popular skiing destination in Italy has plenty of snow already with more to come. It is going to be excellent December skiing there.
If make it to Livigno it makes sense to visit have a day of skiing in Bormio – make sure you visit thermal waters in Bagni Vecchi afterwards. Bormio received its portion of snow, too of course. What it looked from resort’s top elevation spot at 3,012 metres above sea level:
Val di Sole is another major ski area to have excellent free ski deals. Snow’s been there, too.
Passo Tonale is a snow-sure area with its Presena Glacier. Picture below was taken this morning.
The non-glacier ski area of Folgarida-Marilleva is under a bit of snow, too. More snow is expected this week.
Stay tuned for updates regarding other destination.
